Guacamole

Creamy and green, no party is complete without a bowl of guacamole and chips. Guacamole is made from avocados, lemon or lime juice and salt, but can include garlic, tomatoes, chiles, and onion as well. The word guacamole is actually not Mexican but comes from the Aztec word for avocado which is “ahuacatl” and the word for mash, “mole.”  Placing an avocado pit in guacamole will not prevent it from turning brown, but placing a piece of plastic wrap on top of it will.
