A crock-pot is a tabletop appliance designed to slowly and safely cook soups and stews. Crock-pots come in an array of sizes and with various temperature settings. Popular in the ’70s and ’80s, they gave those working outside the home a chance to tenderize tougher cuts of meat without even turning on the stove. Popular crock-pot dishes include beef stew, chili, chicken and rice, country-style ribs, minestrone soup, and pot roast.
