Cake mix recipes

Packaged mixes for cake were most likely introduced in 1920s. But they became famous and ubiquitous thanks to Betty Crocker and General Mills in the 1940s. It took a while for cake mixes to become accepted by American housewives who were used to baking from scratch. Now packaged cake mixes are used for hundreds of recipes including many different types of cakes, cookies brownies and pies.
