Coleslaw is one of the best side dishes served with sandwiches, especially deli style sandwiches. The name coleslaw comes from the Dutch word koolsla meaning cabbage salad, not surprising since coleslaw recipes are typically made from red cabbage, green cabbage, or a combination of the two. Coleslaw can be dressed with a vinaigrette style dressing or a mayonnaise based dressing, either way, if you’re making coleslaw, be sure to give the salad some time to wilt and soften a bit before serving for a better overall texture.
