Did you know bananas are not just high in potassium but also in vitamin C? It’s true. Grown in the tropics and available all year round, bananas are a fruit-bowl staple. Bananas are best eaten when they are fully yellow with a few brown “sugar spots.” When they get too soft, throw them in the freezer. Frozen bananas are perfect for making banana bread and smoothies or for dipping in chocolate and nuts for a healthy treat. A little-known secret: Blend frozen bananas solo and they have the exact consistency of ice cream – shh. We won’t tell the kids that their banana dessert is actually healthy if you don’t.
