Palmer Arrives In Vancouver
By: Unplugged Living    0 days 15 hours 15 minutes ago
Channel: Eco Style Living

Remember that Swiss driver who has been circling the world in his solar car? Well, it has been disclosed that this driver, Louis Palmer, has just touched Vancouver soil.

It is quite interesting to note that when Palmer was asked, he shared that he had dreams of going around the globe in a vehicle which got power from the sun. And that happened to him back when he was still a teenager.

Now that he is already in Vancouver, this is already the start the North American part of his world tour. And this would be a good way to tell people that traveling in a vehicle that gets power from the sun is not impossible. Palmer even shared, I’m showing people that we have a solution to global warming. Does it go up hills? No problem. It’s a Swiss car. At night, I travel 300 kilometres on solar power. And it’s like an ordinary car. It’s very stable and has a maximum speed of 90 km/h.

Shell Goes Solar In Japan
By: Unplugged Living    1 days 5 hours 25 minutes ago
Channel: Eco Style Living

In Japan, Shell is known as the fifth biggest oil refiner. And one of the most recent news about this giant of a company is that it is already planning on shelling out 100 billion yen which would be used as investment. Yes, that amount of money would be used to make a megaplant which would be using solar power.

Aside from making use of solar power, this Shell plant in Japan would also be using that facility to produce more solar panels. All in all, estimates say that the total number of solar panels that this facility could produce would be around 1 gigawatt and that would be just around the same amount of power you would find in a small reactor of nuclear power. If that is not that powerful enough for you, then I certainly dont know what is.

These plans are actually a move towards the challenge given by the Yasuo Fukuda, the Japanese Prime Minister. This official disclosed that it would be best for the country and the environment if citizens used solar power.

Large Solar Project To Arrive In Brewery
By: Unplugged Living    2 days 5 hours 46 minutes ago
Channel: Eco Style Living

This coming Thursday, those who are around the San Antonio area in Texas could witness the start of a really large solar project. Though this may be the largest in the whole world, you could take pride in saying that you have seen the largest solar project in Texas being built.

This project is the largest in the mentioned state and it would be happening the Pearl Brewery complex. In a report, it has been disclosed that CPS Energy with Silver Ventures would be working together to get this whole project done. The solar panels would be installed in the Full Goods Buildings entrance canopy.

According to statistics on this project, the whole deal would mean having to install 200-kW solar panels. With that amount of solar panels taking in the rays of the sun and converting them into usable energy, the complex would be able to save as much as a quarter of their total energy expenses.

Radios Are Now Solar
By: Unplugged Living    3 days 5 hours 4 minutes ago
Channel: Eco Style Living

Well, not all. Yup. Not all radios are already powered by solar energy. But there are already a breed of radios which use solar power as juice so they could be able to do their function well.

In the United Kingdom, a report has disclosed that the Roberts company has come up with what is apparently the very first DAB radio which uses solar power to run. Who would think that after all the hullabaloo about solar power, radios would be somewhere behind the list?

Anyhow, this solar radio is known as the solarDAB. Built in it are panels that absorb the suns UV rays and convert them into usable energy. The panels can be found on top of the whole radio. There is also a small display you can see on the radio which tells you just how much juice the radio still has.

Oh yeah. Did I already mention that the solarDAB comes in retro designs and colors? Yep. The future of solar power definitely looks as bright as the solarDAB.

Claiming To Be The Largest
By: Unplugged Living    4 days 5 hours 23 minutes ago
Channel: Eco Style Living

It does look like many people and companies are making waves in the solar industry by declaring that they have the largest and the best solar systems on their roof. Now, in Arizona, one company is claiming that they are about to create the largest solar power system in the world. The company is saying that they are looking at Imperial Valley as a good location for this solar power system.

If this plan pushes through, the report did continue that the company had disclosed that this plant would be able to give power to around 500,000 homes located in San Diego. Now that is really a huge amount of power. Just imagine that your community would not be relying on the grid anymore but would be very thankful for that largest solar power system.

This is all part of the Stirling Energy Systems plans. An application has already been filed so that if approved, they could already start on the construction of the system.
