Japonesque has a full line of makeup and cosmetic tools and brushes. For October, they have released a neat little item, the Limited Edition Pink Ribbon Japonesque Pocket Eyelash Curler. This is a pink version of their regular Go Curl Pocket Eyelash Curler.

This cute pink curler is perfect for your purse or travel kit. A lever in the back flips down to operate the curer, which is pretty easy to use and has a good pad. The shape makes it slightly odd to use, but I loved the combo of the white pad and pink plastic. It allowed me to easily see that I had all my lashes in the curlersomething I have troubles with when using a regular eyelash curler. Indeed, aside from the charitable aspects, I recommend the pink version over the regular black one for that reason.

At $11, this is a good value item. 20% of the purchase price goes to the City of Hope Foundation.

DDF always tends toward impressive products. I particularly love their new Protect and Correct UV Moisturizer aimed at treating and preventing hyperpigmentation and melasma. I have always been a fan of double duty products, so this one goes high on my recommended item list.

DDFs Protect and Correct is a light moisturizer with four chemical sunscreens for SPF 15 coverage. It also contains various extracts, including licorice root extract, to help treat pigmentation. So, the sunscreen prevents discoloration, while the extracts treat it.

The lotion has a decent feel to it, absorbs fairly quickly, and I had no issues with acne with it. I do wish it had a higher SPF though. I really prefer to use SPF 30 and above. A physical blocker in it instead of all chemical ones would be nice too. Regardless, it still is a quality product.

I am dragging myself kicking and Screaming into fall now. I started with a purchase of fall nail polish from the OPI France Collection in the shade We’ll always Have Paris. I wasn’t quite ready to wear it on my fingers, so I just did my toes! Here they are. I admit that it is not the best pedicure–I got a little sloppy with it!

I really like this shade. Purple hues suit me well, especially when they are very dark. I also don’t care for black, blue, or other things that seem a bit too trendy and funky for my age. So the purple trend works well for me. It is just reddish enough for me to not feel like I am wearing a kid’s color. Look for all sorts of deep purple nails this fall, while grays, blues, and black are still around as well.

Alima Pure is a mineral makeup company that boasts 60 shades of foundation! Ill be writing more on that in the future, but today, I am looking at their eye shadow.

I tried out four shades from the limited edition sweater set collection. Swatches are pictured below:

Alimas makeup is 100% certified natural, which is good news for those who get itchy from the bismuth found in many brands of mineral makeup. You wont find that or other fillers in the Alima products.

The eye shadow is smooth and well pigmented. Thanks to the mica in it, It has a nice luminosity to it that I particularly liked. The shadow can be applied wet or dry. I suggest using it wet as a liner.

The set is available for $25, and $2 from the sale of each set will be donated to the Global Fund for Women. So not only can you get some great eye shadow, you can also help a great cause!
